Business Councils
Joint business clusters combining both Saudi private sector and their counterparts worldwide, who have trade or investment relationship within the business council countries of coverage .
Objectives of the business councils
- Introduce all types of investment opportunities within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
- Communicate with stakeholders in both countries to improve cooperation and overcome obstacles.
- Contribute to possible amicable settlements of commercial disputes, if any, in both countries.
- Attention to training programs, technical transfer, and right to knowledge.
- Introduce tax laws and regulations in both countries.
- Prepare and publish annual reports on the investment climate in the two countries.
- Encourage (mutual business visits – mutual conferences and exhibitions) and continuously work on (strengthening economic relations between both countries – establishing economic projects in both countries).
Mandates of the Business Councils
- Discuss subject matters proposed by council members as per business council role, specialties and mandate, and share recommendations on these subject matters in alignment with Saudi Foreign Business Council regulation.
- Submitting proposals related to developing the work of the Business Council.
- Proposing the programs, plans and investment projects that can be utilized in the corresponding country, strengthen and enhance the Kingdom's economy, increase employment opportunities and invest in them, and submit them to the Chairman of the Council.
- Discussing the annual report of the business councils, and share it with the chairman of the federation of Saudi chambers to share with GAFT.
- As needed, represent private sector with relevant government entities, for example (Delegations-Events-Government joint committee).
- Benefiting from the services provided by GAFT through workshops, economic reports, etc.
- Participating in joint government committees with other countries representing Saudi private sector.
- Contribute with views and share private sector voice during the journey of trade policy formulation by GAFT.
Terms of Membership of the Business Councils
-Willing to participate in Volunteer work.
-Ability to participate in Business Council events.
-Having a commercial, industrial, or investment relationship with the counterpart country, with proof thereof.
-Able to speak a counterpart language or English.
-Being a member on one of the Commerce Chambers.
-Having a clean crime and ethic record.
