Dr. Majid bin Abdullah AlKassabi, the Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the General Authority of Foreign Trade, is set to visit the Kingdom of Thailand from May 8th to 10th, 2

​ 024. This visit was accompanied by delegations from the government and private sectors. The purpose of the visit is to discuss and enhance the economic and trade relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Thailand, in light of the developing ties between the two countries in various fields. The visit also aims to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Thai Ministry of Commerce to promote trade relations, as well as to hold the Saudi-Thai Business Council meeting. As part of the visit, the Saudi-Thai Business Council will be held, aiming to familiarize representatives from both countries with the investment climate and direct and indirect investment opportunities in each other's countries. The council also serves as a platform for engaging with relevant authorities in both countries to enhance cooperation and contribute to the amicable resolution of trade disputes. This visit signifies the ongoing progress in Saudi-Thailand relations, showcasing substantial advancements. In 2023, Thailand successfully hosted the Thai Exhibition and the massive Thailand Exhibition, marking the first of its kind for Thailand commercially. With over 40,000 visitors and the participation of more than 300 entities and brands, these exhibitions featured a diverse array of products, ranging from medical services, food and beverages, oud and oud oil, tourism services, car spare parts, and much more. During the visit, AlKassabi will meet with the Honorable Prime Minister of Thailand H.E. Mr. Srettha Thavisin, H.E the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, as well as H.E the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health, Mr. Somsak Thepsutin, H.E the Minister of Labor, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, H.E the Minister of Industry, Ms. Pimpatra Wichaikul, and H.E the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Sermsak Pongpanit. The delegation includes representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Investment, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, Ministry of Economy and Planning, Saudi Food and Drugs Authority, the Saudi Export Development Authority, Investment Public Fund, and major Saudi companies. It is worth mentioning that the trade volume between the two countries in 2023, reached approximately 9 billion dollars. Minerals products and fertilizers were the main exports to Thailand, while cars and their parts, machinery, and mechanical tools and parts were the main imports.
