The General Authority for Foreign Trade (GAFT) announced today, Tuesday, 30 September 2025, the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation into imports into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of easy-open aluminum lids for beverage cans, with thicknesses ranging from 0.213 mm to 0.250 mm and diameters ranging from 50 mm to 63 mm, originating in or exported from the People’s Republic of China.

The decision is issued pursuant to the Trade Remedies Law in International Trade, promulgated on 23 November 2022, which stipulates in Paragraph (1) of Article (4) that the Authority shall be responsible for trade remedy matters, including conducting investigations and reviews and imposing measures in a manner consistent with the Kingdom’s international obligations, particularly the anti-dumping agreement, the agreement on subsidies and countervailing measures, and the safeguards agreement. 

Since the issuance of the Law, the Authority has conducted a number of investigations across various industrial sectors, with the aim of protecting domestic industry from injury caused by dumped and subsidized imports, preventing surges in imports, and defending the Kingdom’s exports against trade remedy measures.
