The General Authority for Foreign Trade (GAFT) organized a virtual workshop today, Wednesday, 11 February 2026, to introduce the Rules of Origin, with the attendance and participation of more than 70 private sector representatives from various fields. The workshop comes as part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to enhance awareness of international trade regulations.

The workshop focused on the concept of Rules of Origin and their importance in trade, reviewing their types, criteria, and role in determining the applicable trade treatment of products. This contributed to strengthening participant’s understanding of their implementation mechanisms and how to benefit from them.

The session also addressed the definition of origin and its rules and types, the purpose of establishing rules for determining product origin, the distinction between Rules of Origin and general provisions, and the criteria for a product to qualify as originating.

It is worth mentioning that GAFT works to maximize the Kingdom’s international trade gains, enable Saudi exports to access global markets, attract investments, and advance its interests in foreign trade, thereby contributing to the development of the national economy.
