GAFT holds a workshop to introduce the trade remedies system.
Saudi General Authority for Foreign Trade, represented by the Trade Remedies Law, held a virtual workshop today to introduce the Trade Remedies Law and its role in protecting local industry. The workshop was attended by the Acting Deputy Governor for Trade Remedies, Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Aqeel; the Secretary-General of the Petrochemical Manufacturers Committee, Abdullah Al-Haqbani; major petrochemical companies; and interested business owners.
The workshop introduced the Saudi Trade Remedies System Law, its legislative scope, and the positive impact of trade remedies investigations in addressing harm to industries affected by dumped or subsidized imports, or unjustified increases in imports. Participants also learned how to file a trade remedies complaint.
Al-Aqeel explained that GAFT seeks to raise awareness among the private sector about the Trade Remedies Law in international trade, protect domestic industry from harm resulting from dumped and subsidized imports, prevent harm resulting from increased imports, and defend the Kingdom's exports subject to trade remedies. He explained that the workshop falls within the framework of GAFT's commitment to strengthening communication channels with the private sector and local companies in the Kingdom.
It is worth noting that the Trade Remedies Law in international trade was issued by a Cabinet decision and contributes to protecting domestic industry from practices harmful to international trade, enhancing the competitiveness of national products, and attracting quality investments and new industries that contribute to achieving the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
