The Saudi General Authority for Foreign Trade, represented by Trade Remedies Deputyship, held a virtual workshop on Wednesday, 20 November 2024, to raise awareness of the Trade Remedies Law in International Trade. The workshop is part of a broader series of awareness sessions aimed at introducing the framework and mechanisms of trade remedies. The workshop was held in collaboration with the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones, with participation from Sudair Industrial City and industrial cities in the Western Region.

The workshop aimed to introduce GAFT’s role in protecting domestic industries and to explain the provisions of the Trade Remedies Law in International Trade. It also addressed the impact of applying trade remedy measures, the appropriate mechanisms for addressing injury to local industry, and the procedures GAFT follows when handling trade remedy complaints and confidential information. Additionally, the workshop provided a clear understanding of trade remedies concepts and their significance in safeguarding domestic industries.

The Trade Remedies Law in International Trade contributes to protecting local industries from the harmful effects of dumped and subsidized imports, as well as preventing injury from sudden surges in imports. It plays a crucial role in enhancing the competitiveness of national products and attracting new investments and industries that support the realization of KSA’s Vision 2030.
