Saudi General Authority of Foreign Trade represented by the Deputyship of Trade Remedies held a virtual workshop to introduce Trade Remedies Law and highlight its role in safeguarding domestic industry with the participation of Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Aqeel, Acting Deputy Governor of Trade Remedies and Mr. Abdullah Al-Huqbani, General Secretary of the Petrochemical Manufacturers Committee, along with leading petrochemical companies and business stakeholders.

The workshop introduced the Saudi Trade Remedies Law, its legislative scope, and the positive impact of trade remedy investigations in alleviating harm to industries affected by dumped, subsidized, or unjustifiably increased imports. It also provided guidance on how to file a trade remedies complaint.

Mr. Al-Aqeel highlighted that GAFT seeks to raise awareness within the private sector of the Trade Remedies Law in international trade, to protect domestic industry from the harm caused by dumped and subsidized imports, and to prevent damage resulting from surges in imports. He further emphasized GAFT’s efforts to defend Saudi exports that are subject to trade remedy measures abroad, noting that the workshop reflects GAFT’s commitment to enhancing communication channels with the private sector and local companies in the KSA.

The Trade Remedies Law in international trade was issued by a resolution of the Council of Ministers, and it contributes to protecting domestic industry from harmful international trade practices, enhancing the competitiveness of national products, and attracting quality investments and new industries that support the realization of Saudi Vision 2030.
