Saudi Egyptian Joint Committee Approves Completion of 38 Initiatives and 4 Memoranda of Understanding in Its Second Meeting of the 18th Session
The Follow-up Team of the Saudi Egyptian Joint Committee held its second meeting at the headquarters of Saudi General Authority for Foreign Trade in Riyadh from October 8 to 9, 2025. The meeting aimed to monitor the implementation of recommendations and initiatives from the 18th session of the Committee. It was chaired by Deputy Governor of GAFT for International Relations, Mr. Abdulaziz Alsakran, and Head of the Agreements and Foreign Trade Sector at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, Dr. Amani Al-Wasal.
The second meeting emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation and developing bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Republic of Egypt, achieving the desired objectives, strengthening fraternal ties, addressing challenges and obstacles, and exploring ways to enhance trade between the two countries.
During the meeting, the Follow-up Team reviewed the progress of recommendations and initiatives across various economic, commercial, agricultural, tourism, and health fields, among other 38 initiatives. The meeting resulted in the approval of 4 memoranda of understanding and the implementation of cooperation programs. Additionally, the team monitored the status of the remaining initiatives and recommendations, identified challenges and obstacles, and proposed solutions to support the Committee’s objectives of enhancing and developing economic relations between the two countries.
Mr. Abdulaziz Alsakran affirmed the Committee’s role in achieving commercial targets across multiple fields, which in turn strengthens Saudi Egyptian relations for the benefit of both brotherly nations.
The Trade volume between the two countries over the past five years amounted to approximately SAR 266 billion, reflecting a growth rate of 20.5%. Saudi exports reached SAR 168 billion, representing more than half of the total trade volume, with plastics and their products and organic chemical products being the main Saudi exports to Egypt. On the other hand, mineral fuels, oils and waxes, and copper and its products were the main Egyptian exports imported into KSA.
GAFT works to maximize Saudi Arabia’s international trade gains, enable Saudi exports to reach global markets, attract investments, and defend its interests in foreign trade, thereby contributing to the growth of the national economy.
