Saudi-United Staes Trade Exchange Exceeds USD 500 Billion Over the Past Ten Years
The volume of trade exchange between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America exceeded USD 500 billion over the past ten years, making the U.S. the Kingdom’s second-largest import partner. Trade exchange has also recorded a growth rate exceeding 50% since 2020, reflecting the depth and strength of economic relations between the two countries, as well as high-quality strategic partnership that contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of key sectors, attracting quality investment, and expanding the scope of trade cooperation in support of economic prosperity for both nations.
In 2024, the total trade volume reached approximately USD 33 billion. Fertilizers and organic chemical products ranked among the Kingdom’s top exports, while boilers, machinery, mechanical appliances, and equipment, in addition to vehicles and auto parts, were among the most significant U.S. imports, with a total value of USD 9 billion. Furthermore, according to preliminary data, trade exchange between the two countries reached approximately USD 16 billion in the first half of 2025.
The Saudi-U.S. Trade and Investment Council (TIFA), chaired by GAFT, plays a key role in strengthening trade relations between the two countries. The council aims to monitor trade and investment relations, identify opportunities to expand trade and investment, address barriers to trade and investment flows, enhance the trade and investment business environment, and facilitate communication between the public and private sectors in both countries.
The council has contributed to the agreement on 27 initiatives across various fields, including standards and specifications, food and drug regulation, artificial intelligence, and intellectual property. Its membership includes 11 Saudi government entities responsible for discussing bilateral trade and investment issues within defined mandates.
It is worth noting that GAFT works to develop bilateral trade relations through coordination councils and joint governmental committees, in addition to enabling Saudi non-oil exports to access international markets and supporting efforts to overcome various challenges faced by exporters.
