The General Authority for Foreign Trade (GAFT), represented by the International Organizations and Agreements Agency and the Private Sector Affairs and International Representation Agency, held a virtual workshop on Thursday, 18 June 2026, to introduce the world trade organization (WTO) and the Kingdom’s commitments under the WTO framework.

The workshop aimed to provide an overview of the World Trade Organization, its significance, and the agreements established under its framework. It also highlighted the benefits and challenges associated with the Kingdom’s accession to the ETO, in addition to reviewing issues related to market access for goods and services, potential trade barriers, and the mechanisms for addressing them in accordance with international trade rules.

The workshop also covered a number of practical guidelines to help companies capitalize on international trade opportunities and strengthen their ability to expand into global markets.

This workshop forms part of a series of initiatives organized by the Authority to raise awareness of its roles and responsibilities, strengthen partnerships with the private sector, and enhance the business community’s understanding of the multilateral trading system and the Kingdim’s trade commitments within international organizations.

It is worth mentioning that GAFT aims to enhance and maximize the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s international trade gains and defend its interests in the field of foreign trade, thereby contributing to the growth of the national economy.
