The Saudi-Hellenic Investment and Trade Committee, established under the Saudi-Hellenic Strategic Partnership Council, held its second virtual meeting on Thursday, 9 July 2026, chaired by H.E. Dr. Majed bin Abdullah Al-Kassabi, Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of the General Authority of Foreign Trade, together with H.E. Mr. Takis Theodorikakos, Minister of Development of the Hellenic Republic.

During the meeting H.E. Dr. Al-Kassabi emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Hellenic Republic, noting that the two countries have enjoyed strong bilateral relations spanning decades, which have fostered sustainable cooperation across a wide range of sectors. He highlighted that these enduring ties continue to strengthen the partnership and support the shared aspirations and strategic objectives of both countries.

His Excellency also noted that this year marks the centennial anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Hellenic Republic, underscoring the significance of their strategic partnership in advancing cooperation across multiple sectors and promoting their shared vision and mutual interests.

The Committee aims to strengthen economic relations between the two countries by deepening trade ties, enhancing investment and commercial partnerships, and advancing economic development, thereby establishing a model of sustainable and mutually beneficial cooperation.

The efforts of the investment and trade Committee have resulted in the development of 23 strategic initiatives, in collaboration with 16 Saudi government entities, spanning investment, healthcare, transport and logistics, industry, agriculture, food, economy, foreign trade, customs, small and medium enterprises, and standards and metrology. 

The Committee comprises 10 Saudi government entities, chaired by the Ministry of Commerce and including the Ministry od Environment, Water and Agriculture, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Recourses, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services, the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Investment, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, and the Public Investment Fund. 

Trade exchange between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Hellenic Republic increased by 76% in 2025, reaching approximately USD 1.7 billion, compared to USD 970 million in 2020. Saudi Arabia’s principal exports to Greece included plastic and articles thereof and aluminum and articles thereof, while the Kingdom’s main imports from Greece comprised metal products and pharmaceutical products.
