KSA, Djibouti Sign Program to Promote Trade, Investment Exchange

​​​​Dr. Majid bin 'Abdullah al-Qasabi, Minister of Commerce and Investment, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Foreign Trade, and Mr. Hasan Hamad Ibrahim, Minister of Commerce of the Republic of Djibouti, signed today in Riyadh a cooperation program between the Kingdom and Djibouti that aims to promote and develop investment and trade exchange. The meeting was attended by Mr. Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Qattan, His Excellency the Minister of State for African Affairs, engineer Ibrahim bin 'Abd-al-Rahman al-'Umar, Governor of the General Investment Authority, Mr. Abdulrahman bin Ahmed Al-Harbi​, Governor of the General Authority of Foreign Trade, Dr. Sami bin 'Abdullah al-'Ubaydi, Chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers, and the delegation accompanying Djibouti's Minister of Commerce. The two sides emphasized the efforts to increase and diversify trade in goods and services, create an enabling and suitable environment for investments, exchange expertise and information in several fields, create investment opportunities, attract investment, conduct marketing research, and encourage joint activities. They also stressed the importance of the private sector's participation in forums, seminars, workshops, and others in developing commercial and investment activities, organizing joint trade exhibitions, and promoting goods and services. It is worth noting that the volume of trade exchange between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Djibouti reached 488 million dollars in 2018, and the trade balance is in favor of the Kingdom by $390 million; the Kingdom's exports amount to $439 million, while the imports amount to $49 million.
