Al-Harbi: The Kingdom’s hosting of the Saudi-Iraqi Business Forum and Council a strengthening of trade relations between the two brotherly countries

​​ His Excellency, the Governor of the General Authority of Foreign Trade, and Secretary General of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council for the Saudi side, Mr. Abdulrahman ​bin Ahmed Al-Harbi, stressed the importance of relations and common interests between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the brotherly Republic of Iraq, especially in the commercial and investment fields. His Excellency indicated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince - may Allah save them - pays wide attention to relations with the brotherly Republic of Iraq, as the establishment of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council is nothing but a consolidation of the historical relations between the two brotherly countries, which aims to deepen relations in all fields, especially trade and economic relations. Al-Harbi explained that hosting the Saudi-Iraqi Business Forum and the Saudi-Iraqi Business Council is nothing but an extension of strengthening the partnership, and the two countries’ determination to continue and deepen aspects of cooperation and coordination between them to serve the common interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples. As a result of the launch of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, and its leading role in seizing the economic opportunities that became available in light of the great transformation that the Kingdom is witnessing. Al-Harbi stated that the trade relations between the two countries have reached unprecedented levels, as the volume of trade exchange between the two countries during the period between 2016-2021 amounted to nearly 20 billion Saudi riyals. The Saudi-Iraqi Business Forum and the Saudi-Iraqi Business Council will also witness the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding between the Saudi and Iraqi private sectors.
