Foreign Trade Holds Workshop on Trade Remedies with National Committee for Steel Industry and Companies

The General Authority of Foreign Trade, represented by the Trade Remedies Agency, convened a virtual workshop to introduce the trade remedies system and its role in safeguarding domestic industry, on Thursday, May 1, 2025. With the participation of the Deputy Governor of Trade Remedies, Mr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Aqeel, and Chairman of the National Committee for Steel Industry, Mr. Bandar bin Abdullah Al Sulaim, along with leading steel companies and interested entrepreneurs.

 

The workshop introduced the Saudi Trade Remedies System, its legislative framework, the beneficial impact presented by trade remedies investigations on damaged industries from dumped or subsidized imports, or unjustified increases in imports, and ways to proceed with a trade remedies complaint.

 

Mr. Al-Aqeel emphasized the Authority's role in enhancing the private sector's understanding of trade remedies in international trade, protecting the domestic industry from dumped or subsidized imports, preventing increased harm from imports, and defending the Kingdom's exports subject to trade remedies procedures. He also highlighted that the workshop reflects GAFT's keenness to strengthen communication with the private sector and domestic companies in the Kingdom.

 

Trade remedies system in international trade, established in accordance with the Council of Ministers Resolution No. 321 dated 28/04/1444 AH, contributes to safeguarding domestic industry from harmful practices in international trade, enhancing the competitiveness of national products, and attracting value-added investments and new industries to realize Saudi Vision 2030.​
