Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the General Authority of Foreign Trade, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah AlKassabi, concluded his visit to the Kingdom of Thailand from May 8th to May 10th, 2024, accompanied by 9 government entities and 85 private sectors entities.
He emphasized the importance of enhancing trade exchange between the two countries, especially in light of the significant developments witnessed in all fields of bilateral relations. Both countries have been striving to strengthen these relations through visits, forums, exhibitions, and conferences in the past period.
Furthermore, AlKassabi pointed out that the Kingdom of Thailand has valuable potentials in various fields such as energy, manufacturing industries, technology, agriculture, tourism, financial services, and healthcare, affirming the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to cooperate in enhancing these potentials.
He also said, "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia believes in the importance of enhancing trade exchange with Thailand and seeks to promote exports and imports between companies. It works on removing obstacles, facilitating trade procedures, and enhancing bilateral trade through communication and information exchange regarding investment opportunities available in both countries."
In addition, AlKassabi met with the Honorable Prime Minister of Thailand H.E. Mr. Srettha Thavisin, H.E the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, as well as H.E the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health, Mr. Somsak Thepsutin, H.E the Minister of Labor, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, H.E the Minister of Industry, Ms. Pimpatra Wichaikul, and H.E the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Sermsak Pongpanit.
On another note, the General Authority of Foreign Trade has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Thai Ministry of Commerce regarding the development of trade relations between the two countries. The memorandum aims to enhance cooperation based on mutual benefit in the trade sector, eliminate obstacles and challenges that may be encountered, and take all appropriate measures.
As part of his visit, AlKassabi had the opportunity to make field visits to some remarkable companies in Thailand. He visited the headquarters of Bangkok Dusit Medical Services, and the Thai Summit Group the automotive parts manufacturer. Additionally, he explored the headquarters of Minor International Hospitality Company, and Asset World Corporation Company. He gained valuable insights from successful experiences in the medical, industrial, hospitality, and real estate fields, among others.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Investment, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, the Saudi Export Development Authority, the Investment Public Fund, and major Saudi companies participated in the delegation.
