His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Foreign Trade, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Kassabi headed the Kingdom's delegation participating in the meetings of the Trade Cooperation Committee and Committee for Standardization Affairs held in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman on Thursday 21 Shawwal 1441 AH, 11th of May 2023 AD, in the presence of their Excellencies the GCC Ministers of Commerce and his Excellency the GCC Secretary General Mr. Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Budaiwi.
The meeting of the Trade Cooperation Committee addressed the latest developments in completing the implementation of the GCC Common Market and addressing the challenges of intra-trade between GCC, in addition to the negotiations of Free Trade Agreements with countries and international trade blocs, and several economic topics.
The ministers also discussed the fifth meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Standardization Affairs several topics listed on the agenda, following up on GCC Standardization Organization workflow, and stressing on the importance of imported and exported products meeting the sound technical requirements in order to enhance the competitiveness of Gulf products, in addition to cooperation in various fields of standardization.
The consultative meeting was held between the Ministers of Commerce and Industry with the heads of the federations of the GCC Chambers, which included a discussion of the opportunities to enhance joint Gulf work in the fields of business incubators, commercial franchising, and supply chains.
His Excellency held a number of bilateral meetings with His Highness the Qatari Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al-Thani, and His Excellency the Kuwaiti Minister of Commerce and Industry Mr. Mohammed Al-Aiban, to deepen trade relations and brotherly ties between the countries.
