The Saudi-Finnish joint committee concludes the activities of the 4th session held in Riyadh on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. The Saudi side was headed by His Excellency Deputy Governor of International Relations, Mr. Abdulaziz AlSakran, and on the Finnish side was the Under-Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, Mr. Petri Peltonen.
The joint committee aims to develop its bilateral economic relations and enable cooperation between both countries in all fields, especially trade, creating joint projects, exchanging experiences, and enhancing governmental communication between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Finland.
The committee enhances cooperation in the fields of the circular economy, education and health, food and agriculture, transport and logistics services, energy and engineering, communications, and online games.
The Saudi-Finnish Joint Committee endorsed a number of recommendations that contribute to enhancing trade and investment development, removing obstacles and challenges, and enabling cooperation by exchanging commercial delegations and exploring participation opportunities in the exhibitions that are held in both countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Excellency Deputy Governor of International Relations, Mr. Adulaziz AlSakran, and the Under-Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, Mr. Petri Peltonen, signed a report on the meeting containing items and recommendations that contribute to enhancing joint action between the Kingdom and Finland.
It is worth noting that the volume of trade exchange between the Kingdom and Finland reached 8.8 billion riyals between 2018 and 2022. Plastic and their products were recorded as the most significant Saudi exports, and wood and its products being the most significant Finnish imports.
